Firstly, both prop styling and food styling encompass elements of art and design. However, food stylists specialize in plating, which is distinctive to the food and beverage industry. In contrast, prop stylists are versatile and can operate across various sectors, including product and interior design, beyond just the F&B industry.
Regarding their rates, food stylists typically command higher fees than prop stylists. This is due to the extensive range of techniques and ingredients they employ, particularly in food science, to ensure the food not only appears visually appealing but also appetizing.

Food stylist: primarily focuses on making food look appealing and enhancing the presentation of dishes.
Prop stylist: style elements and props around the plate that are related to the theme design.
